Community Asset Project (CAP)

The Community Asset Project (CAP) Board is a non-profit organization comprised of 29 people, including eight youth from the six Cherry Creek School District high schools; Overland, Grandview, Eagle Crest, Cherokee Trail, Smokey Hill, Cherry Creek, as well as Regis and St. Mary's. These parents, school administrators, community professionals, and youth are dedicated to building developmental assets and creating a strong partnership between the Cherry Creek School District and their surrounding communities. Developmental assets are 40 common sense things that help youth grow up to be responsible, caring, motivated and healthy adults. It is a framework that helps all kids reach their highest potential and avoid becoming involved in health compromising behaviors.

The Cherry Creek School District's Community Prevention Project (CPP) (renamed in 1998 the Community Asset Project, CAP) has worked persistently over the past 15 years to increase community awareness and build partnerships that ensure all youth have the potential to reach both their individual and academic potential, by lowering youth involvement in health compromising behaviors. Our first accomplishment was to establish the position of Prevention Coordinator in conjunction with the Cherry Creek School District's Administration and Board of Education. Brenda Holben currently holds this position and has ably facilitated numerous programs and trainings in the Cherry Creek schools as well as promoted many community-wide endeavors.
